Occupational therapy for adults

Part of living a fulfilling life is having agency and feeling confident to handle whatever life throws at us. Occupational therapy helps adults manage the practical side of daily life, whether the challenge is physical, cognitive, sensory or emotional. We work with you in your home and community, and with the people who support you.

Complex disability and neurological conditions

Marina and Ana have spent their careers with adults who have complex physical, intellectual or developmental disability, including acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy and progressive neurological conditions. That experience shows in the detail: the right seating, a transfer that is safe for you and the people who help you, a kitchen set up so that you can cook.

Trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming

We recognise the impact past experiences can have on wellbeing, and work in a way that is sensitive, respectful and paced to you. Autistic adults and adults with ADHD and related conditions get support that respects how they think and live, not a program to change who they are.

Good to know

Before you get in touch

Where we work

Your home, your workplace, a group home or day program, the community, or by telehealth across NSW. Travel is charged one way at the NDIS rate.

NDIS experience

A registered provider since 2015 for self- and plan-managed participants. We know what a good functional capacity assessment needs to say, and we write it plainly.

Working with your team

Support coordinators, support workers, GPs, specialists and housing providers: we coordinate so that recommendations are acted on, not filed.

Where sessions happen

We come to you

  • At home

Where routines actually happen: mornings, meals, play, homework and bedtime. Most families start here.

  • Preschool and school

Alongside educators, so the strategies that work in a session work in the classroom and the playground too.

  • In the community

Shops, parks, the bus, a workplace or a group home: wherever the goal is, that is where we practise it.

  • By telehealth

Secure video sessions for families and adults anywhere in NSW, and for check-ins between visits.

Questions

Adults: questions people ask

What conditions can occupational therapy help adults with?
Physical disability, neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy and acquired brain injury, intellectual and developmental disability, mental health conditions, cognitive impairment and age-related change. If daily life has become harder, OT is about making it workable again.
What is a functional capacity assessment?
A detailed assessment of what you can do in daily life and the support you need to live as independently as possible, written as a report the NDIS uses to decide funding. It covers self-care, mobility, the home, communication, community access and the equipment or supports that would make a difference.
How does OT help with memory and thinking?
With strategies and tools for memory, attention, planning and organisation: routines, reminders, environmental cues and technology, built around how you live.
Can you help adapt my home?
Yes. We assess your home and recommend changes, from grab rails and furniture layout to ramps, bathroom modifications and wider doorways, and write the reports needed to fund them. See the assistive technology and home modifications page.
What about mental health?
OT helps with the practical side of living with anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions: coping strategies, self-care routines, structure to the day and getting back to meaningful activity. We work alongside your mental health team.
