Play-based help with the everyday skills of childhood: getting dressed, handwriting, play, friendships, attention and sensory needs.

Teens and young adults

13 to 25 years

Independence, study, work, friendships and the move to adult life, for young people with physical, intellectual, sensory or psychosocial disability.

Adults

Specialist areas

Expertise few Sydney practices offer

Ana led the Vision Education Service at RIDBC (now NextSense). Marina has spent her career prescribing complex assistive technology. If you have been looking for an OT who understands vision impairment, hearing loss or equipment, you have found two.

Blind and low vision

Children and adults

Specialist OT for children and adults with vision impairment, led by Ana, former Coordinator of the Vision Education Service at RIDBC (now NextSense).

Deaf and hard of hearing

Children and adults

OT that understands hearing loss, for Deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adults, including those with additional disability.

Assistive technology

Equipment and home modifications

Wheelchairs, seating, equipment, communication and access technology, and changes to the home, assessed, prescribed and funded.

How it works

From your first call to the first visit

  1. Get in touch

Ring, email or send the enquiry form. Tell us a little about who the support is for and what is hard right now. No doctor’s referral is needed.

  2. Paperwork sorted

We confirm how sessions will be funded (NDIS, Medicare plan, private health or privately), send the service agreement to sign on your phone, and book the first visit.

  3. First visit and assessment

At home, at school or online, we get to know you and the person we are supporting, look at the everyday things that matter, and agree on what to work towards.

  4. A plan, then sessions

You get a plain-language plan with goals you helped set. Sessions build the skills, adapt the environment or find the right equipment, and we adjust as life changes.

Where sessions happen

Therapy works best where life happens

So we come to you, or meet online when that suits better. There is no clinic to travel to.

  • At home

Where routines actually happen: mornings, meals, play, homework and bedtime. Most families start here.

  • Preschool and school

Alongside educators, so the strategies that work in a session work in the classroom and the playground too.

  • In the community

Shops, parks, the bus, a workplace or a group home: wherever the goal is, that is where we practise it.

  • By telehealth

Secure video sessions for families and adults anywhere in NSW, and for check-ins between visits.

About Marina and Ana
Fees and funding

We work with the funding you already have

Plain answers about what sessions cost and how to pay for them, so money is never the reason you wait.

  • NDIS

A registered NDIS provider since 2015, for self-managed and plan-managed participants under Early Childhood Supports and Therapeutic Supports (Capacity Building). NDIA-managed participants: ask us, we keep a short list.

  • Medicare

Chronic Disease Management plans from your GP give a partial rebate on up to five sessions a calendar year. Sessions are paid in full and the rebate claimed back.

  • Private health

Our therapists are AHPRA-registered with Medicare provider numbers, so eligible sessions can usually be claimed on extras cover. Ask us for the item code to check your rebate before the first visit.

  • Privately

No plan or cover needed. Sessions are charged at the standard NDIS rate with a one-way travel charge, and invoiced after each visit.

Questions

Things families ask before they get in touch

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see an occupational therapist?
No. You can make an appointment directly: send the enquiry form or give us a call. There is no waiting list, so we will do all we can to see you as soon as possible. A GP referral is only needed if you want to claim a Medicare rebate under a Chronic Disease Management plan.
What do sessions cost?
Sessions are charged at the standard NDIS rate for occupational therapy, whether or not you are an NDIS participant, plus a one-way travel charge at the NDIS rate for home, school and community visits. Reports and communication with other people involved in your care (a support coordinator, a teacher, another therapist) have standard fees too. We confirm every fee in writing before the first visit, so there are no surprises.
Can I use my NDIS plan?
Yes. OT Life has provided NDIS-funded occupational therapy since the scheme started in New South Wales in 2015, under the Early Childhood Supports and Therapeutic Supports (Capacity Building) categories. We support participants who are self-managed or plan-managed. If your plan is NDIA-managed, ask us: we keep a short list and will tell you honestly how long the wait is.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based in Sydney’s Inner West and visit clients across the Sydney metropolitan area: homes, preschools, schools, workplaces and group homes. Telehealth sessions are available anywhere in New South Wales.
What happens at the first visit?
The first visit is an assessment and a conversation. We look at the everyday things that are hard, the person’s strengths, and what you want to be different, then agree on goals together. For children it is play-based and parents are part of it; for adults it is a practical look at daily life, the home and any equipment. You leave knowing what we recommend and what happens next.
